Well folks, this year was unbelievable! But alas, all good
things must come to a end! So without further due, I present my
2005.........................
MUSIC:
Albums
1. I cant lie its a toss up for sure but Ill have to say my favorite album this
year is Kirk Franklin Hero. It is such great music and the honesty of
that record is amazing! Kirk Franklin
is the man when it comes to Gospel hands down.
2. The White Stripes Get Behind Me Satan had me pushing repeat quite a bit
actually, it was such a eclectic rock record really. Not too much of any one
thing, but enough of everything else! I just liked the Guitar work by Jack
White and some of the most original work on a mainstream release rock record.
3. It wasn’t as good as the first one, but ill have to admit though that Kanye
West Late Registration Album was the best hip hop album this year I heard.
Gone, We Major and Roses are the tracks alone that make that album standout. So
many quotes and the beats were cool.
4. Stevie Wonder A Time to Love was the comeback album of the year. I haven’t
heard a Wonder album that was made in the last 20 years which sounded this
good!
5. Al Green Every Thing is Okay was another album that just reminded me
what good soul music sounds like!
6. Speaking of soul music the compilation that I purchased at Starbucks
about a month ago I Believe In Your Soul was soooo good. Man the new
cats just can't bring it like the vets!
System of Down Mesmerize and Hypnotize where both good ones too! I
love that bands energy!
7. My last album that I must mention from this year is a good one that I don’t
think really caught on. Little Brother The Minstrel Show that
reminded me that there is positive hip hop out there still. Such a great album!
Singles
- John
Legend Ordinary People was the best song by far this year I heard.
Maybe we should take it slow?
2.1 Thing Amerie really did get me trippen! That was a instant
get on the dance floor classic! Song was BANANAS!
3. Get Right J LO almost up there with Amerie but lacked the intensity.
4. B.Y.O.B System Of A Down was the song that when it came on you
just had fun singing along with it. I love that song and there album was
pretty good also.
5.Shake Ying Yang Twins ft Pitbull was one of those guilty
pleasures!
6.The Corner Common ft Kanye West and The Last Poets man Mr. West
brought it back to the streets with that jam!
7. Black Eyed Peas Pump It is just a crazy jam!
8.The Game Hate it or Love it made you want to get your ride
on!
9. Gorillaz Feel Good Inc never thought I ever hear another song with De
La be played in the club again!
10. Unbreakable by Alicia Keys was just soooo hot!
Movies
1.Crash- That was the most intense movie I ever watched on the big screen.
Everyone needs to see that movie because its so true what it says about
life.
2. Serenity- when I saw that I had no expectations. When I left I had to
tell everyone about it. Plus the fact that everyone I have shown since its
dvd release has loved it. That was a keeper.
Now My Life
Can we say Campus Life this year was just fire??? I mean the pool, bop it,
Sex talks, Manhunt, Butt Darts, Baptism and people putting there faith in
Christ, that was just unbelievable!
Commando was elevated to cult status this year, can you say 7 miles and
still made it on time? No you cant because I made it that night and no one
else did. Oh and who ran across 41? Yes sir that was me too! It was
all good. I can’t wait till the rebirth of commando next year; we are
going to take it up a notch. Minus those jerks in the blue Bronco, they
will never be seen again or else!
Saw the greatest class of guys from Revolution at VCC graduate, which was
sad but good. That was the most out of control bunch ever!
Also I will never forget that road trip either on that random night. Hanford or but will
forever be engraved in my heart!
Earth Wind and Fire and Chicago
concert was the best concert I ever seen I must develop those pics one
day. The only thing that sucked was me getting lost and driving all over California trying
to get back home for over 15 hours.
The Pigeon John show was aight also! He held his own for an hour and I
enjoyed myself.
Bible Study this summer! Everyone who was involved in this knew how
intense and cool it was. It was just one of those things where it just
works. Much love to all of you who were part of this I had a blast and
learned a lot myself.
Made a bunch of new friends and
learned a lot about the old ones also this year. Those of you out there know I appreciate
you but……….
Oh and I will never forget the day that I was no longer single either. When I
said to a lovely young lady name Jannah "I guess this means we are both
off the market". Everyday since then has been incredible with her around.
Just like this whole relationship thing. It’s great!
This year has just been something else. Coming off of a hard 2004, I will have
to title this "the year things moved forward". Not saying that I am
like on a huge change. It’s more like I’m not stuck circling in the desert anymore.
In the promise land is were I am and was suppose to be all along. Now it’s the trying
to make the best of it and not look back. God has been sooo God this year. What
else could God be. I have learned this year despite all dominations and views
God is God. God is not some person that you will figure out. God is something
you find and learn more about, but will always be a mystery beyond our
understanding. Faith in Christ has little to do with understanding complex theology
or reading the bible. It has to do with the little you know about him, and
would you be willing to give your life away, believing that the truth is him?
No matter how little of church or bible reading or preaching you been exposed
to you, the question is still will you put your faith in Christ and trust him regardless
of anything else? Just believing in the promise that you heard about, and joining
a community of others around the world that have either been in the situation
as long as you, longer or might have just jumped in it. Realize things
will get worse in life but good always is good and Gods only intent for
creation from day one was good.
So with that I will say Happy New Year to you all and I look forward to
trusting in God for years to come! Love you all and look forward to our times
ahead!
